Heat Line

HEAT LINE (R)

Product Information
Heat-Line is a job-ready freeze-protection kit used for new installations, where pipe and freeze protection of domestic water supply is required. Heat-Line is manufactured complete with the self-regulating heating cable factory installed in a 1" or 1 ¼", 75 PSI, CSA approved polyethylene pipe with the necessary plumbing fittings supplied. A 27 milliamp ground fault circuit interrupter is integral within the electrical cord-set. Heat-Line can be used in many applications including, cottages, homes, resorts and farms where burying below the frost line is not an option. Insulation and an optional thermostat can be used to optimize energy efficiency.

Product Application
Heat-Line is used to freeze-protect water supply pipes from a lake, river, drilled or dug well where burying below the frost line is not an option. In a lake application, the internal heating cable should terminate in the lake at a minimum depth of 6' at LOW water mark. This is to be certain the pipe will be freeze protected below ice level to maintain free-flowing water within the pipes entire length. In areas where the recommended depth cannot be reached, a shore well may be considered - check with local ministries and authorities.

In applications where pipes will be exposed to atmospheric (free) air, closed-cell or other approved weatherproof insulation is required. Insulation will help to maintain energy efficiency and cold temperature reliability. Insulation is recommended for use in all new applications; however any pipe subjected to outside air must be completely insulated to retain the heat within the pipe. In extremely harsh conditions or in high pressure installations such as municipal water service tubing or constant pressure systems, CARAPACE is highly recommended.

RETRO LINE (R)

Product Information Retro-Line is an internal heat tracing system designed to provide freeze protection of existing (CSA 75 PSI or CSA 100 PSI) polyethylene water supply line without their removal. In order to make Retro-Line easy to install, Heat-Line developed a unique dispensing system called "Retro-Reel" to deploy the product with absolute ease, while protecting it from mechanical injury during installation. Retro-Line can be used in a variety of water supply pipe applications including, cottages, homes, resorts and farms. Insulation and an optional thermostat can be used to optimize energy efficiency.

IMPORTANT BENEFIT
A special benefit of Retro-Line often overlooked, is the fact that entire piping systems can be pre-installed and tailored to size, prior to determining Retro-Line length. An example of this flexibility would be; purchasing and installing 200 feet of pipe to the intake or pump location deep in the lake. After this is accomplished the required length of Retro-Line can be measured and installed to freeze-protect the pipe to a point below the lake ice near the shoreline. In other words, 200 feet of pipe may be installed, while only 100 feet requires freeze-protection.

Product Application
Retro-Line is an internal heat tracing system designed to provide freeze protection for existing polyethylene water supply lines. Heat-Line recommends Retro-Line to be installed in certified water pipes with pressure systems below 75 PSI. In a high pressure or constant pressure system see CARAPACE.

Retro-Line can be used in lake, river, drilled or dug well applications. In a lake application, the internal heating cable should terminate in the lake at a minimum depth of 6' from LOW water mark. This is to be certain the pipe will be freeze protected below ice level to maintain free-flowing water within the pipes entire length. In areas where the recommended depth cannot be reached, contact Heat-Line for advice. A dug shore well, or other methods may be considered - check with local ministries, and authorities.

In a dug well application, the heating cable can pass through the length of the pipe down to the pump or foot valve as required. Care must be given not to pass the heating cable through foreign fittings with internal burrs. These fittings should be replaced with products furnished by Heat-Line.

In a drilled well application, the heater can run the length of the pipe, but cannot enter the pit less adapter or it may sustain damage. If the pit less adapter is above grade, Heat-Line suggests installing a well tile around the steel well casing and filling with earth. There are other methods of protecting these applications; consult Heat-Line for specific application requirements.

In applications where pipes will be exposed to atmosphere (free air), installed over rocky terrain or under buildings, insulation is required to maintain heat within the pipe and ensure energy efficiency and reliability.

PALADIN FOR PIPE (R)

Product Information
Paladin is an external heating cable that can be used for reliable pipe freeze protection on the outside of the pipe. Paladin employs the unique performance of self-regulating heating cable technology. Paladin can be used in a variety of applications including, cottages, homes, resorts and farms for many different sizes and types of pipes. Insulation and a thermostat can be added to the system to further optimize energy efficiency.

Product Application
Paladin is an external heat tracing system designed to provide reliable freeze protection of metallic and non-metallic pipes. Examples include; sewage pipes, forced mains and pressurized systems. As Paladin is wet location approved, it may also be used inside non-pressurized pipes such as drainage tiles and gutters. Traditional style heat tapes must be pitched or spiraled around the pipes in order to apply adequate amounts of heat to un-insulated pipes making them very high in energy consumption. With Paladin, the heating cable is simply applied on to the pipe in a single run; reducing overall length of product by as much as 60 percent. When combined with thermal insulation, the amount of heat required is reduced; thereby generating greater energy savings.

EDGE-CUTTER

Product Information
EDGE-CUTTER channel flashings are designed to prevent ice build-up, icicles, or ice dams on the roof edge. It can be used with various roofing products such as asphalt shingles, aluminum, steel and even slate. Each 4' aluminum flashing is feathered and has a channel to accommodate the self-regulating heating cable. The flashing is installed under the leading roof edge using screws, nails, or adhesives. The Paladin system or Heat-Line Cut-to-Length self-regulating heating cable is then installed within the channel and a cap secures it in place.
USE ONLY APPROVED SELF-REGULATING HEATING CABLES.
NOT FOR USE WITH CONSTANT WATTAGE HEATING CABLES!

Product Application
The EDGE-CUTTER flashing can be used on low-pitched roofs, fascia, valleys, and drip edges. If a metal roof is present, the EDGE-CUTTER channel flashing should be ordered with a 6 mil urethane membrane factory installed directly onto the flashing to prevent galvanic oxidation between dissimilar metals. Flat and angled EDGE-CUTTER channel flashings are available to suit different application requirements.

In areas where EDGE-CUTTER channel flashings are not required, the Paladin heating cable can simply be mounted with clips on the roof surface in the conventional serpentine configuration.

Benefits of EDGE-CUTTER
* 4' feathered aluminum flashing complete with cap
* Fast, easy installation
* Can be used under metal, asphalt and slate roof
* For new or existing roofs
* Aesthetically pleasing
* Many different uses
* Can be used with Paladin heating cable sets
* Can be used with Heat-Line cut-to-length heating cables*
* Membrane available

* Approved roof and gutter powered connection kits required.

EDGE-CUTTER often requires consultation as there are large application variables. Heat-Line provides technical support for these situations.

ARCTIC VENT

Product Information
ArcticVent is the only cCSAus approved solution to freeze protect plumbing vent stacks. Prolonged cold temperatures cause plumbing stacks to ice up and form a blockage as warm moist air rises, condenses and freezes. ArcticVent eliminates this ice blockage where it exits the roof of a building. ArcticVent is constructed with LEXAN® for high strength in severe cold. ArcticVent can be used in new installations or to retro-fit existing non-protected (standard) 3 inch to 6 inch plumbing vent stacks.

Product Application
ArcticVent is designed for new or existing installations where a freeze protected plumbing vent stack is required. They are installed where ventilation ice blockages occur due to rising condensation in prolonged freezing temperatures. This remarkable, energy-efficient product uses a meager 75 watts of power to keep vents open in temperatures below -50 degrees F. ArcticVent can be used under continuous power for freeze maintenance or powered when required to thaw a frozen plumbing stack.
